Tom was born in Claresholm, Alberta on February 8, 1923 and passed away peacefully on January 22, 2018 at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre, Claresholm.
Tom was predeceased by his parents Jack and Cecilia; wife Helen (1991); son Mike (2014); brothers Regis (Pat), Hugh and Gerard (Eva); sisters Mary (Joe) Corbett and Rita (Hugh) O’Leary; granddaughter Ketsy and her mother Kerri. Tom is survived by his sister Josephine (Ed) Scott ; children Peggy (Bob), Bill (Margie), Tim (Alelie), Barb (Todd) and daughter-in-law Karen ; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Tom lived his entire life in the Claresholm area and was a strong supporter of the community, volunteering generously in any way he could. Tom was born and raised a farmer / rancher and pursued that passion his entire life. In his 95 years he enjoyed various leisure activities including old time community dances, curling, fishing, golfing and socializing with family, friends and neighbors. The door to Tom and Helen’s home was always open; a hospitality tradition passed on from their parents.
Tom will be remembered as a true gentleman, one of the last of his era.
Prayer Service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church (344-50 Avenue West, Claresholm) on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM.
