Vera Doris Eskeland beloved wife of the late Tom passed away on Thursday, October 12th, 2017 at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre at 91 years of age. Vera is lovingly remembered by her children Charlene (Abbie), Dwight, Vicki and daughter-in-law Pat; six grandchildren Trina, Colin (Januari), Curtis, Aron, Leah (Danny) and Quinn; five great-children Karson, Dylan, Emery, Courtland and Eden; brother Leonard (Rom) Ully; nieces and nephews; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her son Barry in 1987, husband Tom of 51 years in 1997 and siblings Alfred Ully, Edward Ully and Alvena Housenga.
Vera was born at home near Birdsholm, AB on February 3rd, 1926 to Henry R and Leah H (Gaehring) Ully. Vera and family moved to Barhill (north of Picture Butte) where she attended school. She met Tom at a Barhill school dance and worked at the Royal Bank in Lethbridge after finishing school.
Vera and Tom were married January 21, 1946 and lived at the Eskeland homestead near Carmangay. They moved to the Stavely area in 1962, where they farmed and were involved in many local organizations and groups. Vera was a member of the Stavely O.O.R.P, Stavely Curling Club, Stavely Golf Club and the Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader, loved to play cards and socialize. Vera was a dedicated farm wife whose family came first. Family and friends will always remember her delicious meals and generous loving spirit.
At Vera’s request, cremation has taken place and a private Graveside Service will be held at the Stavely I.O.O.F Cemetery at a later date.
